A Georgian Silver Teapot London 1799 Peter and Anne Bateman Silversmith_Benjamin Westenquire A very good silver Georgian teapot of oval form. Concentric reeded bands to top and bottom. The concave domed lid with concealed hinge and wooden pineapple finial above silver leaves. Tapering straight spout and curved ebonised wooden handle with thumbpiece. Contemporary monogram to one side. Marked to the base for London 1799 by Peter and Anne Bateman. The lid marked with the makers mark and the lion passant. This is a very fine teapot in

and the main stems are enwrapped with the lion and eagle

The Middletons remained in Gibraltar for three years before returning home in 1808

C-scroll handle topped with cast acanthus leaf decoration

The scrolling handle is decorated with an acanthus thumbpiece and applied decoration

and are engraved to one side with Queen Anne's Royal coat of arms and to the other the crest of John Smith
